Summary
Victimized by an unknown alien race and their inexplicable game only weeks before, a small community in northern Los Angeles is preyed upon again by the same aliens and the massive, deadly wall of energy that surround their neighborhood. Led by the same group as before—a charismatic Hispanic female cop, a Hollywood movie grip, a nurse and a college professor—they struggle to come to grips with the aliens’ agenda, their own difficulties and strategies for survival, and the psychotic plans of an obscure group of religious fanatics based in the area.
“The pacing of Walls is stellar. It is jam packed with fast-clipped dialogue, clever quips, & intriguingly suspenseful sequences that keep the plot & character development brisk & entertaining & succinct. The titular Walls themselves are wisely rendered in inscrutable terms — as enigmatic & trippy as the shimmering in Alex Garland’s Annihilation. If you like Wandavision, The Twilight Zone, Phillip K. Dick stories, or any sort of dystopian literature with a cinematic bent, this is for you. I can’t wait to read the next installment!” Cinematic Underdogs
“Walls: Hell on Wheels picks up almost right where the first novel left off, pulling you into what seems like a time warp, similar to the one these LA suburban characters re-enter. It feels heavy and foreboding not knowing what this next Walls event will bring! Especially while remembering what the last one entailed. The neighbors are grappling with the aftermath of trauma, which is explored in realistic, emotional detail. And since things seem to be happening at a fast pace in this second installment, dealing with the past, healing, and coming together as friends, lovers, and family is crucial for them to find the courage they need to keep going, no matter what new horror awaits around the corner. Without giving anything away, I absolutely loved the surprise ending. Written with depth, humor, and thrilling intrigue, Hell on Wheels keenly shows what it takes for people to survive together with valor.” Stina / Amazon reader
Praise for Walls: the Beginning

“A propulsive…apocalyptic thriller.” Krikus Review
“Terrifying and funny at the same time. This book instantly reminded me of Annihilation, except a little more blatantly scary and with a lot more humor! I enjoyed the setting of LA suburbia and the mix of characters. Steve offers a nice reflective balance and philosophical theories about the walls’ purpose and the relationships within the neighborhood that have only seemed to form fully because of a menacing threat right in front of them. The ending was both satisfying but also left some interesting questions!” Tina / Amazon reader
“Walls has a variety of characters that you can’t help but fall in love with, especially Lisa, a hot LAPD, and leader. People can’t help but follow her when she takes charge of the neighborhood under chaos. If you like enigmatic stories with humor and diversity, Walls is a MUST-READ! You can’t imagine what being trapped with no electricity, running water, or communication with the outside world will drive people to do.” Pamela S. / Amazon reader
